This concert brings together two great romantic German composers, Mendelssohn and Brahms. The works are both rousing and comforting in nature, and the very well-loved Ein Deutsches Requiem, which Brahms referred to as a ‘human requiem’ is written to console the living and to explore grief in its many forms, rather than to accompany the dead.
