Privacy & Data Policy


Members of GCU

By being a member of GCU, you agree to have your personal details held on a database. In return the information given will only be used to communicate and manage the choir. To benefit members we currently send details of other choirs’ workshops and concerts through a reciprocal arrangement.

Your details will only be passed on to those in positions of responsibility within the choir i.e. to the subscription secretary, membership secretary and your part representative. They will not be passed on to any other organisation.

Should you leave the choir your contact details are held for a year after you have left. We are legally obliged to hold this information as all members are share holders.

Please inform the data manager if you wish to amend your data.


Friends of GCU

As a friend, your details are used for the sole purpose of administering the benefits offered to you as a friend and are held by the Friends of GCU secretary.

Please inform the Friend’s secretary if you wish to amend your data.

Guest singers and others

By opting to go on the database you will receive fliers about our concerts. According to your chosen preferences you may receive information about our Summer Sing workshops, be invited as a guest singer for some of our concerts where the programme requires numbers over and above GCU members’.

The information we hold on you is held with the database manager and the guest secretary and is not shared with other organisations. It is used solely for managing choir events as listed above.

Besides your name, we hold your contact details (address, phone number and email), voice part and whether or not you are in an auditioned choir.

You may withdraw your details and amend your preferences at any time by contacting the database manager.
